Beautiful furnishings and accessories do not make the Feng Shui Decorating work.

This room has all of these but still you will find that the family does not gather around this table except for major holidays.   In this case it is the structure of the room that is the culprit.

There are feng shui decorating elements that could help this room.  More feng shui color on the walls, seating and linens would be a great start.

The feng shui ailment in this photo is the sloping ceiling and it’s color.

First, the sloping ceiling puts an unbalanced weight in the room and makes its energy uncomfortable.

Second, the white ceiling accentuates the slope.  The color white says look at me.

In this scenario, I would suggest painting the ceiling the same color of the walls making it less obvious.

To cure the sloped ceiling place a mirror facing up at the low end of the ceiling.

This is what you might call a designer kitchen, sleek, contemporary, state of the art.

What about Feng Shui?

Well, if you hate to cook and like to eat out this kitchen is just for you!

The color white repels so these cabinets are sending out of the kitchen.  Just look at a fluorescent light.

You can’t for very long because it hurts your eyes.  The light is so bright it repels energy.  This is just what the color white does.

Another note on the stainless steel, it may be the chic thing to do today but is carries the energy of knives or poison arrows.

It is a cold and harsh material, not warm and inviting.

It may be great for clean up and endurance but colored or wood covered appliances bring more energy into your kitchen and maybe even your family for a change.

Feng Shui Nightmare

This space is so unique that is intriguing to look at, the shape of the spaces and the contract in colors draw in your attention.

The curvilinear loft and the contrast between the white walls, the dark floors and column are eye catching.

This space is interesting to look at but I must tell you that this feng shui home is a nightmare.

When you use contrast in your space it causes the brain to rapidly shift from one perspective to another.  This shifting of focus causes added energy and excitement to the space.

There are places where you may want to use contrast.  Commercial spaces are prime for this type of energy because the high energy draws people into the space.

In a feng shui home a game room or morning eating area is appropriate, but never in the bedroom or spaces where you want rest and relaxation.

Living Room Home Windows

What a warm and inviting room.

The Fireplace and warm colors make this space welcoming.   The views of the outdoors are beautiful and do bring nature into the space.

But as warm as this space feel on one end it feels cold and shivering at the other.  This makes this space feel extremely out of balance.   Balance being the key concept in Feng Shui Decorating.

There are opposing elements and create warring energy.

In this picture you will see that the cooktop is directly opposite the sink.  When you see this you know that there are many arguments in this kitchen.

They can be as simple as arguing over the spice in a dish to who spent the most money in the bank account.

The most ideal feng shui kitchen does not have a sink in the island.

Typically when there is a sink in the island it will oppose the stove or cooktop.

Feng Shui Contemporary

This picture of a contemporary living space is very striking.

Contemporary design is great for commercial applications or places where you don’t spend a lot of time.

Feng Shui Decorating is about creating nurturing spaces full of chi energy.  Most contemporary interiors are sparse, angular and limited in color usage.

As you see in this photo the walls are a light beige no much difference from the white ceiling.  Most of the color comes from the brown/black furniture, wood floors and space divider.

Also the feeling is very cold.

The sharpness of all the corners (or Sha) creates an environment that you don’t want to cozy on down into.

You can use contemporary elements in Feng Shui Decorating but you would choose more color and use elements that are curvilinear like a round coffee table.

The feng shui decorating tip in this kitchen can be deceiving.

Knives are poison arrows and have cutting sha energy.

Even though these knives are in a wood block the higher self still views this as sha energy.

A feng shui decorating tip is to always keep your knives out of view in a drawer.

These knives are in the health area of the room and will cut the energy in that aspect of the people who live here.  Also in the picture you see the pan hanging overhead. This places a weight on your energy field.

I know that this is a decorating fad but it is not good Chi energy.

Feng Shui Color

Feng Shui decorating color is the most important quality to consider.

Color will add energy to your space faster than any other cure you can do.
