We have recently completed a Feng Shui audit of Crystal Magic in Sedona,
Arizona. Feng Shui is an ancient science that deal with the flow of energy or
"Chi", meaning the way of wind and water. The ancients believed in and
lived their lives by these forces. We were so surprised at the intuitive layout
of this store that we wanted to share with you these positive applications of
Feng Shui. Amy St. Amour, the store manager at Crystal Magic, says that the
layout is a combination of many people's efforts and the store is doing better
than ever.
As customary we will begin with the exterior audit (refer to diagram I). The
islands of plants roadside create the invitation welcoming customers. Plants
give off an earthy comfortable energy that everyone can relate to. The store
signage faces both directions of traffic sending the energy of the store out to
all who pass by. The signage on the front of the store also grabs attention Even
though the shape of the store is not ideal (square or rectangular) the plants in
the front at each comer, cure this ailment. The adjoining neighbor (a beauty
salon) is a service oriented business which assists in adding energy to the
property. This building is made for prosperity, the address is 2978 W. Hwy 89A.
2+9+7+8= 26. 2+6=8. Eight is the number for prosperity. The highway number also
adds up to an eight. 8+9=17,1+7= 8. Double prosperity. Our recommendations for
the exterior, keep the planting areas free of debris and the plants manicured.
Also, the concrete slab in the front has a crack that cuts the entrance, cutting
the energy of the store. Cover this with indoor/ outdoor carpet or a mat that
covers the entire crack.

As your walk up to the storefront the front window is lighted, adding energy
which pulls customers into the store. The crystal and power tools (obelisk)
placed in the window are not only attractive to the customers, they create a
power spot drawing people in. All people feel and are moved by energy. Flowing
"Chi" attracts and hard "Sha" repels. The hanging crystal
reflect "Sha" or negative energy outside the store. As you walk up to
the front door you are also greeted by the sounds of wind chimes creating
harmonious "Chi".
Stepping in the front door of Crystal Magic is like walking into that special
place you go to during meditation (see diagram 2). The incense is located
directly on the right and the aroma floats through the air with the sounds of
the waterfall and the wind chimes create an environment that everyone is drawn
to. When customers walk through this door they are here to stay for awhile. This
is a perfect application of Feng Shui.

The waterfall just to the left as you walk in the front door is one of the best
cures for ailments in Feng Shui and adding energy to any life station. The
waterfall recreates the natural elements of the universe inside the store
bringing good health and prosperity. The water also transforms "Sha"
or hard energy as it comes in the front door to soft flowing "Chi."
Placing the waterfall at an angle creates cutting edges, however, these cutting
edges have been cured by placing chimes above each comer of the waterfall.
Plants have also been used inside the waterfall that enhances the energy of the
store.
As your turn to your left (always turn left first when entering a property, this
sets the electromagnetic field for health) the glass display in the window is
full of crystals. This application and proper use of family is found throughout
the store. Family is a very important concept in Feng Shui. Things that are
family are in harmony with each other, for example: glass display cases and
crystals both have the same translucent energy, where wood bookcases and books
both have earthy energy and come from the same material source. In this store
all of the crystal and glass items are displayed on glass shelves and earthy
elements like books and shoes are displayed in wood cases. When elements are
mixed it is like putting oil and water together, it creates the opposite of
harmony. When family is used, harmony abounds!
The New Knowledge corner or life station (refer to the March/April issue of NAR
"Basic Feng Shui for Retailers) has a speaker and an accessory symbolizing
the full sun our greatest life source, which adds energy to this corner. If you
remember from this article the more energy you add to your life stations the
more energy you add to creating your desires for the life station. The most
important element in this comer is the convex mirror. This mirror reflects and
brings the energy and knowledge from the rest of the store into this comer
enhancing the new knowledge. The card section is located here and the knowledge
of this store is communicated to all who receive these cards.
Next, moving along the Health and Family Wall on the left, we find the shoe and
personal health sections. This is a very intuitive placement. The massage table
and oils along with vision tools, personal energy devices, bath salts and
posters of the energy points of the human body are displayed here. The perfect
location for creating positive "Chi". Locating the physical section in
the proper life station enhances the energy for that life station.
As we move to the far left comer, there are two wealth corners. The first has a
convex mirror and T.V. in the video station. The cash register is reflected here
in the mirror, the location for the register in the money corner. The T.V. which
plays videos all day, adds even more energy to this corner increasing
prosperity. The second wealth corner is in the crystal room. This room is full
with crystals from floor to ceiling and all walls creating an energy center. The
electrical panel for the store is also located in this corner, adding even more
energy. Our recommendations for these corners are to complete the financial
affirmations for the store, put them in red envelopes and place them directly in
the far left corner from the entrance to the room, also add plants to these
comers. This location for the crystal room is also perfect for a retail store.
The object of retail is to make a profit and with this much energy in the wealth
corner, they are sure to do just that!
Coming out of the crystal room and moving along the back wall to the far right
comer of the store is the relationship corner. Here we find a speaker which adds
energy to the corner and a red and black mandala. The ancient symbolism of the
mandala adds energy and the colors red and black also attract energy. The books
for the store are located here so the store has a good relationship with books.
Writing affirmations for the stores relationship with their customers and
placing them here would be ideal.
As you move along the right hand wall back toward the front of the store you
come to the children section. This too was an intuitive placement because this
is the children life station in Feng Shui. If designing a store, this would be
the exact location for placement of the children's section, Remember, locating
the section in the proper life station enhances the "Chi" for that
life station.
The check-out counter also has the perfect placement for the cash register. It
sits in the far left hand comer of the counter or the wealth comer. Our
recommendation here is to place a mirror on the right hand wall to reflect the
register. This will create two registers and double the money coming into the
store.
The shape of this store is very long and narrow. When energy or "Chi"
moves into a long and narrow space it moves more quickly and turns into "Sha"
or hard energy. In this application when energy comes in the front door it moves
straight along the right wall picking up speed. This store has placed reflective
mobiles directly in its line of path stopping and breaking up this "Sha"
energy creating 'Chi". This too was a very intuitive placement. The angled
display cabinets in the center of the store also help to breakup the space and
soften the 'Chi" and flow of the store. The angled display cases also allow
clear vision to all parts of the store. Chimes can also be found throughout the
store which adds to creating the flowing "Chi" and harmony in the
store.
There is a dropped ceiling towards the back of the store to cover the ducting
for the air conditioning system. This dropped ceiling will affect sales of all
items in this area. It is also directly adjacent to the career wall and will
affect the career aspiration for the store. The dropped ceiling puts weight on
this area and inhibits the natural flow of "Chi" causing customers not
to spend time here. Feng Shui has a cure for this ailment. Use two flutes with
red tassels at one end. Take the first flute to one end of the dropped ceiling.
Blow through the flute pointing upward at the ceiling while visualizing the
dropped ceiling being supported by the sound. Sound goes on for infinity and
will create the electromagnetic field of what you visualize. The red tassel will
hold the electromagnetic field in place. Take this flute and hang it on the
dropped ceiling at a 45 degree angle with the red tassel hanging at the bottom.
Now do the same for the second flute at the opposite end of the dropped ceiling.
When complete, the two flutes will be at either end of the dropped ceiling
pointing upwards towards each other. This cure will restore the natural flow of
"Chi."
The ceiling fare in this store have been set to turn clockwise (the direction
for creating the magnetic field for health). Most fans have a switch to change
the direction of the spin. To determine the direction, imagine standing on the
roof of your building and looking down at the fan. If the blades are turning
clockwise all is well; if not, flip the switch to change the direction of the
blades.
All of the display cases are well lit with track lighting, making it easy for
customers to see the product. This also adds energy directing attention to the
product display areas. We recommend the installation of full spectrum lighting.
This is the closest lighting to direct sun light. We receive 20% of our energy
from stored light in food and 80% from the sun. If you are indoors for long
periods of time, full spectrum lighting will benefit your health and the health
of your employees and customers.
The glass display shelves really add a sparkle to the store, however, they do
require a cure. Glass has a cutting energy and will drain the energy of all who
are around them. The cure is very simple, place red dots on the structural
elements supporting the glass, closest to the outside edge of the glass. One dot
on either end of each shelf will suffice and the dots do not have to be obvious.
The color red holds the magnetic field of the glass keeping it from protruding
outward.
The perpendicular and horizontal structural members of display shelving create
intersections that also cut energy fields which will impact the energy levels of
your customers. If their energy levels are up, they will shop longer. The cure
for the ailment is to place red dots on each section of the structural members.
The color red will hold the energy field from protruding outward.
The office area has several pieces of electrical equipment. Each one giving off
cutting energy. This ailment can be cured by using the color red. Place red dots
at each comer of each piece of equipment. Again, the color red holds the
magnetic field of the equipment from protruding. The relationship corner of the
store is found in the office and interestingly enough this is where an employees
keep their personal things while at work. This makes for great working
relationship with all employees, owners, managers, and salespersons. The wealth
corner of the office is a corner that is very important to address. The
financial affirmations for the store must also be placed here in the auspicious
red envelope.
The overall look of this store is very clean neat and orderly. Attention is
given to the store and its products, creating a loving atmosphere. Every time a
product is picked up, appreciated and cleaned it is given energy. That energy is
felt by each customer as they shop.
We thoroughly enjoyed seeing the intuitive use of Feng Shui of this store. Feng
Shui can be an intuitive science. With a little study and training, Feng Shui
can be practiced on an informal basis. However, improper Feng Shui can also be
life threatening. Any situation that deals with health should be turned over to
a Feng Shui Master.
