I was born November 20, 1969, and was recently married on August 9, 1998. My house faces directly North with the master bedroom on the East. From the master bedroom there is a door that leads to the backyard, facing South. Can you advise me with Feng Shui to create harmony, health and financial gains for 1999?

My sister is putting our family in sheer misery. We have never-ending problem with her bad vices. My parents have been through hell with all the trouble she has caused. Put affirmations in your bedroom Relationship Corner how your sister starts to straighten our her life as if it already happened – put it in a Red envelope, and she will start to improve. It is best to concentrate on the Ba-Qua. Add some Red color to your outside toilet and hang red tassel from ceiling over the toilet. Flip top to bottom the direction - in the northern hemisphere, North to our backs gives us strength. In the southern hemisphere, South to our backs gives strength.

The top of our house is at road level. I read this is not good - do you have a cure?

Put reflective chimes hanging from roof facing road. Put plants on both sides of entrance. Keep approach to front door neat.

Move the wall unit or remove the crystal-leaded glasses out of it.

The primary Children’s Wall in my house is a South-facing wall that runs the entire length of my house. Located along this wall from bottom to top is a dining room/home office, kitchen, bathroom, and my son’s bedroom. Hang Red tassel from ceiling over the toilet in bathroom, and keep the lid down when not in use. Put pictures of your children on the wall. Your plants are good.

Hi! I'm so intrigued with using Feng Shui in my life and I am reaping the rewards for appropriate placement. Thank you. I do, however, have one very difficult area. My front door enters into my career - which I am converting to blacks and white. Within a step or two there is a protruding wall which separates the bedroom and living room. Kidney-shape pool is best with the half moon shape of pool facing the house.

Dear Master: My front door face the South. My far left room is the master bedroom area. As you walk in into our bedroom, the carpet is light green, and the wall off- white; our furniture is mahogany wood, and my bed cover is white -- some of the cushions are white and others are bright flower patterns, I also have another cover that I keep at the foot of the bed that is a bright floral pattern. In our bedroom we have two other doors, one for the walk-in closet at the extreme corner of the house with no window, and the other one is at the right to the master bathroom that has one window and off-white ceramic tile floor, off-white wall, silver accessories, black rod and white curtain, and a painting with big red flowers over the toilet and a huge bouquet of red poppies over the bath tub. The cloths are all white. Over the double sink I have a huge mirror, and over the tub all round I have a wall-to-wall mirror. Everything is nice, bright and crisp. I love that bathroom. I think the room, if I understand the Ba-Qua, room, is my love/marriage area. My husband and I are happier than ever. My only concern is that right outside that room at the extreme corner, I have a big pile of compost. I love gardening - I love flowers and I should add that my garden saves my mind when I moved from Montreal to South Carolina. I started to read a bit about Feng Shui very recently, and I am trying to follow as much as I can, but no book explains the good or the bad about composting and how it influences your life. We moved south because of big financial problems. They seem to be slowly improving. Our Wealth area is outside, if the following is correct. Our house is rectangular, and at the left side is the garage that is attached to the house; at the back of the garage is the deck that completes the square of the house. Do I consider the garage because it is under the same room, or should I just consider the rooms that we live in? What about the attic in which we can barely walk? It is over our living room (Fame and Reputation, maybe). Is there something I can add to make that room Feng Shui-friendly? What about my wealth that is outside? It is a big wooden deck 18' x 20'. I already have a chime, plants, trees and bird bath in a corner of the deck that is not exactly a rectangle, and it has a little niche. The compost is fine. You consider the garage because it is attached. You always treat all four corners in master bedroom.

It is not a problem. You can put a door or hang a curtain to the entrance of your wardrobe.

We enter our home through the back door, and this places the stairs (both going up and going to the basement) along the "Children" wall. You can’t use too many crystals. I would hang a Red tassel over my toilets from the ceiling. Keep toilet lids down when not in use.

Designate one door that all will enter your home, then everyone enters through that door. Set the house from that door. If you can have your head facing North or East in your bedroom, where you can see the door, you will do better.

I have discovered Feng Shui about a week ago. I have already read two books, begun rearranging, and then discovered your website. We have noticed improvements already in our finances and career, which were the corners we focused on first. I also moved my son's crib from a negative direction (death) to a positive one (longevity), and he has slept through the night ever since. My question is this: I have put some cash that I set aside for bills in our Wealth corner. Is this OK? I wanted to put it in a Red envelope, but read that you shouldn't put Red in the West. (That corner faces West). Please let me know about placing money in that corner.

Placing the money in a Red envelope in Money Corner is good.

Well, my problem is that my love and relationship area is not going too well. My girlfriend recently dumped me, but I still love her a lot. I was born May 8, 1974, and my wife’s birth date is October 10, 1974. Are we compatible to each other? You told not to place the bathroom in the center of the house or in any corner of the life station. What if the bathroom is located in the Fame corner? What would be the cure for this?

Fame is not a corner; it is the back wall. If it is in a corner, it would be the Money corner or the Relationship corner. Please write and tell me which one it is in. Your birthdays are compatible.

My husband (12/31/53) and I (4/26/59) have been living in a home (#101) for ten years. Our front door faces W-NW, and our back patio doors (used most) faces the S-SE. The back lot was totally lined with trees, which gave privacy to our deck and back doors. The trees died and had to be removed; although we planted a few new trees, it does not offer the same feel. My husband enjoys gazing out onto the neighbors’ yards of green grass and trees. I feel there should be a fence or wall -- I simply feel uncomfortable without the privacy. We have purchased vertical blinds for the doors. I have hung a wind chime on the deck and bird feeders, which have helped. The lot is on a corner, so the back length of the house, deck, and back driveway were lined by the trees. It is really just the openness to the deck and patio doors that I feel uncomfortable about. Any suggestions?

You may put some tall potted plants on one end of the deck to give you privacy when you are out on the deck, which still allows your husband to look outside.

I wonder if you could advise me about incorporating Feng Shui in a little restaurant in the London suburbs of England. There are old beams and an original fireplace, and a long narrow hallway that leads to the toilets. Your beams, one foot in from each, and draw arrows at 45 degrees on each end of each beam. The fireplace is to keep people happy and in a good mood – put a plant on either side of the fireplace. The plants can be real or fake. Hang a mobile halfway down the hallway from the ceiling. Keep bathroom doors closed when not in use.

Place a Ba-Qua mirror over your front door on the outside. You can also use mirrors to reflect away Sha on the doors to your garage. It will reflect the hard Sha coming from the cars driving up the driveway to the garage.

I know to put plants on both sides of the bottom stairs and a Ba-Qua mirror outside the front door, but at the top of the stairs there is a wall directly in front of you. Do I put anything there? Also, when you say corner, does it have to be the exact corner or can it be on a wall close to the corner, but in that life station corner of the house? I know you should hang them over each entrance to each room, but then it says to align the inside of the rooms, I guess, by hanging them on the walls. The entrance is Career, the closest left-hand corner is New Knowledge; the left-hand wall is Family, and the far left corner is Money. Back wall is Fame, and the back right–hand corner is Relationships. The right wall is Children, and the closest right-hand corner is Helpful People.

A crystal is programmed to carry out a specific job. A light-reflecting crystal just reflects light. Quit smoking affirmations go in your Money corner. Feng Shui is a Science and an Art, not a Religion. Your birth dates are good. The more windows you hang crystals in, the better you will be.

An Obelisk is in the shape of the Washington Monument in Washington, D.C., USA. Put an object with that shape in your Money corner, and you will get work.

It is a good place for a food pantry. No cure necessary.

The front door, kitchen, living and dining rooms all face North. I have been trying to apply Feng Shui to my office and my new house. Most areas of my life seem to be going fine. However, my husband and I own a business, which I hate, (innkeeping,) and our marriage is in a crisis situation. I don’t think I love him and have no feelings for him as a wife. I’ve tried putting something Pink or Red in the Relationship areas in our bedroom, our living room, and in my office. I also added a heavy round Onyx ball in that area, hoping that would keep our marriage solid. However, I think the toilet in the master bathroom is in the relationship area. Could this still be affecting my marriage?
