I am just leaning of Feng Shui. How much does a personal consultation cost? My life has been such that if bad luck can happen, it does. Just began a relationship a year ago … child is attempting to get life together … I’m attempting to get out of a long time debt … I’m up for promotion at work. My house number is 127. My date of birth is 6 June 1954. Does either of these have anything to do with this long standing run of bad luck?

Add a “6” and a “1” to your address. Your astrology has been a problem. Things can get better. Our main page (http://www.artofplacement.com) has many good articles for those just beginning to study Feng Shui. Call  to discuss consultation fees. Click on this link to find out more about the meanings of numbers and how to fix them,  http://www.artofplacement.com/FengShui/numbers.htm

We are moving into a home with the address “4869.” The front door faces North. There is a carport, not a garage, and a chain link fence encloses the back yard. We’re trying to determine furniture placement and other “hints.” Can you let me know what the fees are for a consultation?

I don’t have enough information to tell you how to place your furniture. Call 928-288-2061 to discuss consultation fees so I can help you.

What is “Chi?”

Chi is positive energy that brings good to all. It is the energy that flows through your body and powers all things.

I would like to know if the garage in my house is considered a corner of the house or if the chart considers only the living areas of the house.

If the garage is attached to the main house, you consider it as part of the house.

Our street address is “67,” and our front door faces North. We have a sloping driveway. How can I improve our financial security and ensure good health?

Add a “3” and a “1” to your address. Shine a light up the driveway towards the house. Place a plant in your Money corner and add coins to the pot.   Click on this link to find out more about the meanings of numbers and how to fix them,  http://www.artofplacement.com/FengShui/numbers.htm

I would like a Red door. Is this OK? Thank you for the help.

A Chinese Red door would be perfect!

We purchased our home two years ago when they were still building it. Our house number is “6936” – I added a “2” in clear nail polish. We built mini-waterfalls with a winding 35-ft. stream in our backyard, which faces North. Is this good Feng Shui? If not, what can we do to fix it? Thank you for a very informative website. I am applying the information from your site as best I can.

Instead of adding a “2” to your address, add a “1” and a “1.” The waterfalls are good. Keep using the website.  Click on this link to find out more about the meanings of numbers and how to fix them,  http://www.artofplacement.com/FengShui/numbers.htm

I have small mirrors placed outside of my home in all four directions. I have done this to send back any negative energy being sent to me. I have also heard that the placement of these mirrors help the balance of home life, as well. Can you tell me if what I’ve heard is true or not?

I would rather see you use chimes for this purpose. Mirrors can reflect negative energy. It’s better to use chimes to break up Sha and turn it into Chi to enter your home.

My address is 215 on Rt. 26 North. Should I circle the numeral “2” on my mailbox?

Yes, you should circle the number “2” going clockwise.

I have been struggling for 2½ years in business. Some days good, others zero. My address is 325, and the business entrance is at the Northwest corner in the Knowledge section. Can you use regular coins above a door in Wealth corner to increase wealth?

Add a “6” and a “1” to your address. You can use regular coins, but Chinese coins are better. Putting them in the pot of a plant or a bowl in a Money corner is better than putting them above a door.  Click on this link to find out more about the meanings of numbers and how to fix them,  http://www.artofplacement.com/FengShui/numbers.htm

I am new to Feng Shui. Please recommend books to read.

We recommend “The Feng Shui Handbook: A Practical Guide to Chinese Geomancy & Environmental Harmony” by Derek Walters, which you can order from our website and pay no shipping charges anywhere in the USA. The webpage address is http://www.artofplacement.com/FengShui/product.htm  – click on Feng Shui Books to see the listing of books available to you. Our main page (http://www.artofplacement.com) has many good articles for those just beginning to study Feng Shui.

In India, where we live, every home has a fan in the center of each room. Invariably, it falls over some part of the bed in the bedrooms. How can we correct this to make it Feng Shui favorable?

Put Red dots on the top of the blades on each fan.

How does one deal with a missing corner? In our case, the Wealth corner is an L-shaped building (business) where the area drops off too low to do much. The building is built into a hill, and that Left back corner where there is no structure is deep.

Place a light in the hole facing back at the main business.

Please tell me how to sell our house quickly.  Have many people looking, but no offers. Need to move by the end of the year – the sooner the better. Please help with any suggestions that might help it sell soon.

Make sure everything is neat. The entrance and walkway to the house have to be clear with everything being nice and neat. The entrance should be well lit. Place a Red bow on the front door – the house is a gift.

Regarding fans, do you put Red dots on all fans or just on those going counter-clockwise? Do you put the dots facing into the room or away from the room? I have never seen this clarified in any book.

Place Red dots on all fans. Place Red dots on the top of the blades of ceiling fans. Place Red dots on either side of fans that stand (not ceiling fans).

My daughter is a musician/singer and plays the violin, guitar, and piano. What can we do in the house to open doors for her in the music field? The house number is 1311, and her birthday is 30 November 1986. Thank you.

Add the numbers “1” and “1” to your address. Place pictures of her playing her instruments in your Money and Relationship corners.    Click on this link to find out more about the meanings of numbers and how to fix them,  http://www.artofplacement.com/FengShui/numbers.htm

My father recently passed away. During the time he lived with us, we moved several things to accommodate his needs. Now I would like to clear out and start fresh by using Feng Shui methods. Our house is an L-shaped ranch that we are in the process of redecorating. Can you give us some suggestions to improve our family life using Feng Shui?

Sage your house in a clockwise direction. Square off your house by placing a light at the corner that is missing, shining back at the house. You should call us for a full consultation at 928-288-2061 in Sedona.

Please advise what is good for knee Arthritis? I can hardly walk, so any help is greatly appreciated. Enjoy your website.

Follow your doctor’s advice. Place Orange felt on the areas in pain. To me, Arthritis means we are not flexible in the ways we handle life. I would look to become more flexible in the ways I deal in the world, and my pain would leave.

We need to sell our home soon – we are relocating to a town four hours away. Our address is 14563 and the front faces the South. What can we do to sell quickly? When looking for a new home, should it also face the South? Thanks so much for all the great advice you always have.

Add the numbers “6” and “1” to your address. Place a Red bow on your front door. The entrance should open to the South as a general rule. There can be exceptions.  Click on this link to find out more about the meanings of numbers and how to fix them,  http://www.artofplacement.com/FengShui/numbers.htm

What affect do ceiling beams have on the energy of a room? I have separated the dining room from the living room. There is a fan in the middle of the living room over the couch.

They place a heavy weight on anyone directly under them. They will put you to sleep if you sit under them.

Sometimes you recommend adding a single digit to a house number and sometimes you recommend adding two lower digits to make the house number add up to “8,” when a single digit would do. Why is that?

I don’t want to put problem number in your address, such as the numbers “2” and “4” and “7.”   Click on this link to find out more about the meanings of numbers and how to fix them,  http://www.artofplacement.com/FengShui/numbers.htm

My current arrangement for sleeping is that my legs point exactly at the wall of the bathroom. If I were to build a cabinet up to the ceiling attached to that wall, would that be considered a remedy? Please help me prevent bad effects if I were unable to re-position the bed.

Make sure your bathroom door is closed when you are sleeping, and that should solve your problem.

I live on the first floor in a 2-apartment house. Do I use the Ba-Qua diagram as I enter the front door of the house or as I enter the front door of my apartment? Also, my house number is 124. What can I do to increase my finances?

Add a “1” to your address. You have a full Ba-Qua for your apartment, and there is one for your building. Place a plant with coins in the pot in your Money corner.  Click on this link to find out more about the meanings of numbers and how to fix them,  http://www.artofplacement.com/FengShui/numbers.htm

I am a college student living in a tiny basement bedroom with only a tiny window that I cannot open. My room is no larger than 6’ x 10’ – I really believe that I am ill because of the stuffiness in this room. What can I do to air it out and make it a little more livable?

In Feng Shui we avoid basement rooms because they do affect you. Add full-spectrum lighting to your room. Place a picture of the outdoors on your wall. Add plants, real or fake.

If I am living in South Africa, are the directions with the Ba-Qua still appropriate for my Hemisphere and location?

You reverse the directions your house should face. Where you are, the front door is best when it faces North.

Due to a major lack of space in our small ranch home, my 15-year old daughter has moved to our finished basement. I am very concerned that this is not good. Is there anything I can do?

I am against anyone living in a basement. If you have to live there, put in full-spectrum lighting. Add plants and pictures of the outdoors. A Sun is good to hang on the wall.

My husband and I are really grateful for your help in making our lives better. My husband, two kids, and I are building our mini-waterfalls in the backyard and plan to build a water fountain facing our front entrance. We have also placed a tabletop fountain in our Wealth corner. Is having too much water bad? Please let me know before we start installing another fountain in the living room to face the front door.

Some people live on islands with rivers running to the sea that surrounds the whole island and do well. Other people live in deserts and can’t stand rivers, oceans, etc. The number one guide is how you feel around it. It is the staff of life. Your astrology can tell you. After reading what you wrote, I would say all your water is good for you.

The new home I’m building has a kitchen island designed to hold both cook stove and small sink. The kitchen faces South, and this island will face into the great room in the North section of the house. Is it better to place the cook stove in the cabinets facing SE, which is away from large sink and refrigerator?

It’s fine for a stove and sink to be side-by-side or at 90° angles. It is a problem when they are opposite each other in a room. The cure is to put something reflective – crystal, mirror – over the sink facing the stove.

I have an office in my home. If I were to place a small fountain, my inclination is to place the fountain in the main foyer (our living quarters are to the left, and the office is opposite) to the right of the door leading into my office. Is this the best place or should I place it inside the office, itself?

It will be fine in either place.

Thanks for the great website!! We have a friend who owns a bookstore and have encouraged her to make some Feng Shui changes. Her business has picked up. As you enter the bookstore, there is a large picture window at the back that had a view of grass, trees, etc. Now, the restaurant behind her has put up a wood fence, so the view is gone. What can she do to diminish the fence – a mirror facing it?

Bring plants into the store with full-spectrum lighting. They’ll feel and do better.

I’ve been looking for a good book on Feng Shui practices. What do you recommend?

We recommend  “The Feng Shui Handbook: A Practical Guide to Chinese Geomancy & Environmental Harmony” by Derek Walters, which you can order from our website and pay no shipping charges anywhere in the USA. The webpage address is http://www.artofplacement.com/FengShui/product.htm – click on Feng Shui Books to see the listing of books available to you. Our main page (http://www.artofplacement.com) has many good articles for those just beginning to study Feng Shui.

I was wondering which color would be appropriate to paint the roof of our house. It is likely we will keep the walls White, unless you suggest another pale color. We also wonder if the trims would be OK in shades of Blues and Yellows.

It sounds nice – we are usually attracted to the colors that are best for us. If you were unhappy with a color, we could look to your Astrology to decide.

What should I do to help the child sleeping in the bed on the bottom because of the open frame of the upper bunk?

Hang a mobile from the ceiling that the child can see and enjoy.

We have three cats and 2 litter boxes. I have been struggling with where to put them. We have a 2-bedroom condo, and they are indoor cats so must remain in the house. We have two small bedrooms, neither of which would have room.

Put them on either the back porch or where you washer and dryer would be. Without knowledge of your whole floor plan, it is difficult to tell you anything else.

I currently live in a small apartment building five stories high that faces a relatively close 20-story building. It makes me feel claustrophobic, but I need to remain here for the time being. Are there ornaments for the balcony and bedroom, which both face this building, that I can hang to move some energy?

Our main page (http://www.artofplacement.com) has many good articles for those just beginning to study Feng Shui.  Mobiles or chimes are the best things to hang for you to watch and enjoy. Wind socks are good, too.

My question is about wreaths – yesterday I bought a fake flower wreath in the same shades I’m using for our bedroom. I hung it above the bedside table on the Left. I wonder about the Feng Shui of a wreath. Even though the flowers are fake, wreaths are used at funerals. Does this matter or can they be used anywhere?

If it makes you feel good, it will be fine. But if it makes you think of death, I would advise against it.

One of your Question/Answer sections of your website gave the impression that a #4 house is not good. A few of the answers provided for people with #4 addresses was to add a “3” and a “1” to the address with clear nail polish. So, I did that. The house faces East in the back of a cul-de-sac. We’ve never felt content here – we are never home. It seems we pay mortgage for our cat. Water damage resulted in a new roof, and we’ve only owned the house three years.

You did it perfectly. I still don’t like cul-de-sacs.

My building address is 130, and my apartment number is 317. My finances are in very poor shape. My Wealth corner is in the bedroom with very little light for plants – I live in Seattle where it can be quite dark – and I cannot afford to buy an Obelisk. Is there anything else I can do?

Add the number “6” to your apartment address. Artificial plants are helpful in dark areas, but you should get as much light as possible, so consider full-spectrum lighting.   Click on this link to find out more about the meanings of numbers and how to fix them,  http://www.artofplacement.com/FengShui/numbers.htm

Am wondering if the bed should be placed facing a certain direction and, if so, what is the reason.

Placing the bed with your head to the North is good. But to give you a good answer, I would like to know where the doors and windows are in your room. Send me more information for a better answer.

We’ve recently moved to a new flat and discovered the walls in two of 3 bedrooms have permanently attached glass mirror tiles (6”x6”) on them nine across and 4 down (36) facing the windows. Is this good or bad Feng Shui? How can we cure it if it’s bad?

It is bad Feng Shui. Put a mirror on the wall opposite the mirrors. Best cure is to move for I believe you will become sick unless you cover the mirrors to completely remove them from view or remove them physically.

I’m very glad to find your website. I am wondering if you have Feng Shui courses online. I live in Sweden. I am concerned about my house number, which is 1B, apartment 10.

Add a “6” and a “1” to your apartment number. I will announce on the website soon all the information about my online Feng Shui classes. Our main page (http://www.artofplacement.com) has many good articles for those just beginning to study Feng Shui.

My house number is 5435. When I walk in the front door, I am facing Southeast. Are these good house numbers for me? There is a creek that runs in back of my house, but it is not part of my property. The water does not always flow – sometimes it stands still. Is there anything I should do about this creek?

It sounds great. Your address is good. You may reflect water away with a couple of small 1” square mirrors on stakes facing the water.  Click on this link to find out more about the meanings of numbers and how to fix them,  http://www.artofplacement.com/FengShui/numbers.htm

We have an old Victorian home with an irregular corner and hard edge in our bedroom. The room is basically 6-sided – the wall in the Northeast corner cuts into the room and has a diagonal edge going to the ceiling. This cut is what gives the extra two walls to the room, but it is not a right angle. What is a cure? Mirrors? I envisioned suspending a planter with mirrors on all sides so there is always reflection of the hard edge.

That would help. Also, hang a Sun and Half Moon, which you can order from us by calling 928-288-2061.

My house is “2,” and my front door faces East. My bedroom is in the Helpful People section of the house. In the Relationship corner of this room I have my computer desk, radio, cell phone charger, photo albums, and I burn scented candles on my desk. My man and I have been having problems lately – what can I do to this corner to prevent losing him?

Most important, add the number “6” to your address. The number “2” alone is negative for relationship and money. Place a picture of the two of you together in your Relationship corner, and things will improve. Our main page http://www.artofplacement.com   has many good articles for those just beginning to study Feng Shui. Take a look at our “Attracting Love Package” at http://www.artofplacement.com/FengShui/product.htm   Click on this link to find out more about the meanings of numbers and how to fix them,  http://www.artofplacement.com/FengShui/numbers.htm

My house number is 51, and the front door faces Southeast. The back door faces Northwest, and my bedroom faces West (my toilet faces Southwest). Please help me fix these problems.

You can add a “1” and a “1” to your address. Keep your bathroom door shut, and you will do much better. Click on this link to find out more about the meanings of numbers and how to fix them,  http://www.artofplacement.com/FengShui/numbers.htm

Is it the front door or the main door that you use? We normally use the door off the garage, but guests usually use the front door. Which is the “important” door?

The main entrance or the door that is used with the most traffic. I would rather you, also, use the main entrance more often. Things would go better for you.

I got a leg infection in my left shin that hasn’t healed over the last year. Then I developed Phlebitis in my left thigh. My roommate fractured her left ankle, so we are now both on crutches.

Hang something Orange on your Health wall, which is your far-Left wall from the entrance.

As a primary school teacher, I would love to know how to set up my classroom to get the best learning environment for my children … it’s very difficult with 16 rectangular tables and limited space. There are 30 children in my care, and I’d love to have a room that makes them feel at ease and feel the power of Feng Shui.

A Horseshoe-shaped room is good. Add full-spectrum lighting and plants, real or fake. Place a cone shape in your “New Knowledge” area.

I recently acquired a money toad and placed him just inside the entrance to my house on the Right-hand side of the door. He has his back to the door. Is this placement correct? My door faces North. Your site is fantastic!

Place the toad’s face toward the entrance door. Thanks for your comments.

I live in Athens, Greece, and have had a relationship with a man for 14 year, but we are not together. Although we love, respect, and consider each other as part of an almost sacred affair, he never explained why he couldn’t be with me and still cries when he thinks about all we shared. I’d like to try one more time to win him back. I live in a 5-room apartment on the first floor – 33 is the number of the building – with many angles in/out of the apartment and a lot of visible beans in all rooms. There are private verandas in front of every room, and a very crowded road passes from East to West in front of the main entrance, which faces West. The house is not rectangular because it has so many corners made by beans and a fireplace at the West (upon which sits a 100-year old mirror) that divides this wall into two parts. At the Left side is my Relationship corner. I really need to bring balance to this part of my life.

Call 928-288-2061 for consultation information. Place a picture of the two of you together in your Relationship corner until you can get a full consultation. This will help improve things. Consider ordering our “Attracting Love” package (http://www.artofplacement.com/FengShui/product.htm).
